Meet Sydney Shepard

 Sydney Shepard is a Canadian fashion designer and the founder of SHINE by Illuminate Designs.

Born and raised in Vancouver, Sydney's pursuit of higher education took her overseas. First to England, where she fell in love with fashion as a form of self-expression and knew she'd found her career. From there, she studied at Istituto Marangoni in Milan, then Parsons School of Design in New York. She went on to work alongside internationally recognized brands including Hugo Boss, Blumarine, and Catherine Malandrino, contributing to collections shown during New York Fashion Week.

But the industry took a toll, and Sydney returned home to Vancouver to reevaluate her path. In that pause, she found her purpose. She'd always loved solving problems and helping people—and back home, she noticed a real gap: nighttime visibility was an important safety issue, yet nothing on the market addressed it with any real sense of style.

That realization became SHINE by Illuminate Designs: handcrafted accessories that use light reflection to help keep people safe after dark without asking them to sacrifice their personal style.

Today, Sydney works at Vancouver Community Centers while building SHINE in every spare hour she has, grateful that a path she never expected ultimately led her to work she truly believes in.
